Nikayla Boyd

TNCHWA Executive Director

Nikayla Boyd, Ed.D., serves as the inaugural Executive Director of TNCHWA. With over ten years of experience in managing and developing CHW and community programs, she guides teams of CHWs. Under her leadership, TNCHWA spearheads efforts for CHW certification and program accreditation. Nikayla is a member of the National Association of Community Health Workers and the Southeast Community Health Worker Network and serves on the advisory board for Tu Salud, at Latino Memphis.

Laurie Hoffma

TNCHWA Director of Operations and Programs

Laurie Hoffma is the Director of Operations and Programs for TNCHWA. With more than 30 years’ experience in nonprofit leadership, Laurie has a track record in program design and implementation, relationship building, communication, fund development and grant management. She has a background in human services, education, and community engagement and is an active member of the Southeast Community Health Worker Network and Grant Professionals Association.

Tamesha Brooks

TNCHWA Training Coordinator

Tamesha Brooks is a native Tennessean who lives in Memphis. She has worked as a CHW for 8+ years in community-based organizations and hospitals. Community health is her passion because of the documented positive impact it provides to both individuals and to the entire community. Serving as a CHW and as a trainer allows her to form lasting relationships and connections with patients, clients, and trainees.

Brea Burke

TNCHWA Training Coordinator

Brea Burke is a pastor’s daughter who has dedicated her life to service. She also serves as a Community Health Manager at Healing Hands Health Center in Bristol, Tennessee and is the founding CHW there. Brea focuses on Social Determinants of Health and connecting patients to essential resources. A passionate advocate for CHWs, Brea is a sought-after speaker and founded the CHW United Group of Northeast TN and Southwest Virginia and is active on multiple CHW councils. Her commitment extends to her family and aspirations in foster care.

TNCHWA, established in 2021, empowers and supports community health workers (CHWs) in Tennessee. As the primary organization for CHWs in the state, we promote their vital role in improving health outcomes for residents.
